What is CBT?

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy – this is a talking therapy which looks at how we can change thoughts and behaviours to impact upon how we are feeling.

This short video gives an introduction to the therapy. As we embark on your therapy journey we will explore and create a plan utilising the therapy most appropriate to need.

What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) – this is a therapy which helps to process parts of the past that are “stuck” such as negative images, sensations in your body, beliefs about yourself or emotions.

This short video gives an introduction to the therapy. As we embark on your therapy journey we will explore and create a plan utilising the therapy most appropriate to need.

What is CFT?

Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) is a therapeutic approach that focuses on cultivating self-compassion and understanding. Rooted in the idea that kindness and compassion are powerful healing forces, CFT helps individuals navigate and transform their relationship with their thoughts and emotions. This approach is particularly effective in addressing issues related to shame, self-criticism, and low self-esteem. By fostering a compassionate mindset, CFT empowers individuals to respond to themselves and others with greater understanding, kindness, and resilience, ultimately promoting emotional well-being and mental health.

What is Counselling?

Counselling is a collaborative and confidential process where you and a trained professional work together to explore and understand your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. In a supportive and non-judgmental environment, counselling aims to help you gain insights into challenges, develop coping strategies, and make positive changes in your life. Whether you're dealing with stress, relationship issues, or personal concerns, counselling provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.

What is ACT?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a therapeutic approach that encourages individuals to embrace acceptance of their thoughts and feelings rather than trying to control or avoid them. ACT helps you identify your values and commit to actions aligned with those values, fostering psychological flexibility. Through mindfulness and acceptance, ACT aims to enhance your ability to handle challenging emotions and live a more meaningful and fulfilling life. By developing a greater acceptance of the present moment and committing to positive actions, ACT empowers individuals to navigate life's complexities with resilience.

What is DBT?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a comprehensive therapeutic approach initially developed to treat individuals with borderline personality disorder. DBT combines cognitive-behavioral techniques with elements of mindfulness. It focuses on building skills in four key areas: emotion regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness. DBT helps individuals manage intense emotions, improve relationships, and develop effective coping strategies. It teaches practical skills to navigate conflicts, regulate emotions, and create a life worth living. DBT is especially beneficial for those seeking a balanced and fulfilling life while overcoming challenges related to emotional dysregulation.
